UK Storage Unit Sizes

UK storage is commonly advertised in square feet. Compare the floor areas below, then use the inventory calculator to allow for stacking, gaps and access. Providers offer different size steps and room shapes.

Areas shown to the same scale as square footprints. Actual units can be narrow, wide or irregular.

Floor area and empty-room volume

Volume assumes a 2.4 m internal height; it is not usable belongings capacity.

Lockers and very small spaces

A few boxes may need only a locker. Locker height may be much lower than room height; our room recommendations start at 10 sq ft. Confirm all three dimensions for a locker, and use the advanced height input when relevant.

Over 300 sq ft

Large household inventories or stock may need multiple units or commercial storage. Adding two unit areas does not prove a fit: each item must fit within one unit and access has to work in each space.
