A boxes-first load, student belongings or a few small furniture pieces. A bulky sofa can dominate this footprint. 25 sq ft is 2.32 m² of floor area. It describes the floor, not how much you can safely stack.
Example footprint
5 × 5 ft (1.52 × 1.52 m). This is one possible shape, not a universal standard.
Empty-room cubic volume
About 5.1–6.3 m³ if the internal height is 2.2–2.7 m. Belongings cannot use all that air space.
Property comparison
A small room’s worth of selective storage. Bedroom count alone cannot prove a fit.
An example load to investigate
The following is an illustrative inventory to test, not a guaranteed fit. Assume furniture marked dismantlable is taken apart, mattresses are upright and boxes are strong enough for safe stacking.
- 18 × Medium moving box
- 8 × Small moving box
- 1 × Office desk
- 1 × Desk chair
Load the main calculator and enter these quantities, or start from your actual property preset. Change dimensions for unusually large items and choose regular access if you need a walkway.
Check my actual inventory →Boxes-only capacity
The mini-tool below uses the same practical box model as our main calculator. It excludes furniture and adjusts for access and unit height. A range is more useful than a perfect-cube total.
How many boxes could fit?
When 25 sq ft may be too small
Bulky corner sofas, assembled beds, large wardrobes and fragile pieces consume floor footprint that boxes cannot simply fill. A narrow unit, low ceiling or obstructed door can rule out a load even when the square footage sounds sufficient.
When to consider the next size
If your practical estimate approaches the unit boundary, you want regular access, or expect more boxes later, compare the next available size. Keep the margin rather than relying on perfect stacking.

What about van loads?
Vehicle models vary and vehicle cargo volume already includes gaps. A nominal 5 m³ room is not automatically a 5 m³ vehicle load. Use the calculator’s van method as a rough upper-range estimate, then refine it with items.
